Modern Bridesmaid Dresses for All Budgets (That You’ll Actually Want to Wear Again!)
Dear bride, you’re about to marry the love of your life, you’ve found your venue, chosen your dream dress and now you’re in the process of crossing off the many to-dos from your list. You’ve tackled many hurdles of the wedding planning process, but if you think the hard part is over, think again, girlfraand. Enter the hunt for modern bridesmaid dresses! (insert ominous music)
Once you’ve popped the question to your besties, it’s time to outfit them. If you’ve ever been a bridesmaid yourself, you know that this party is TRICKY. So many dresses, so many price points, so many colors. It’s legit overwhelming. But don’t worry, we’re professionals and we got you, boo.
Questions Before Shopping
Before you start the dress hunt, answer these questions:
* Determine a price point — Who is paying for the dresses—you or them?
* Are your ladies many shapes and sizes or pretty consistently silhouetted?
* Think color and pattern — What’s your wedding color palette? Do you envision everyone wearing the same color, a variety within a color family or all different colors? Do you want to add any patterns to the mix?
With these answers, you’ll have a good idea of how to tackle the shopping component.
Personally, I’m a BIG fan of giving your gals choices. If they’re paying their way, be considerate of their budgets. They’re not only buying this dress, but also your engagement gift, your shower gift, participating in a bachelorette party and a wedding gift. It’s a lot! Not everyone can afford a $400 dress on top of everything else. To provide the most flexibility, allow your gals to choose their own dress, but give them parameters with which to work: send them a swatch in a specific fabric and/or color family.
When it’s time to go shopping, think about something they can wear beyond your wedding day. The last thing you want is your girls’ gowns in the bridesmaid dress graveyard, better known as the dark recesses of their closets.
To sidestep the 27 Dresses moment for your girls, we’ve compiled a list of killer bridesmaid dress looks in a variety of budgets that they’ll actually want to wear again!
No doubt you’ve seen Anthropologie’s wedding line, BHLDN, but did you know they also design killer bridesmaid gowns?
