    Intimate San Ysidro Ranch Wedding

Designing Brittany and Travis’s wedding was all about highlighting their colorful personalities, merging their opposing style preferences into a perfect balance and telling the truly unique story of their journey together. We’re thrilled it was shared today on Grey Likes!

Brittany, is a California girl, makeup artist and all-around Glamazon. The woman could write a book on style. She’s fabulous! Travis, is her country singer/songwriter love from Georgia and amateur comedian (he kept us rolling all throughout the planning process). They met at a bar in Nashville during a classic “hey ladies” approach, which Travis expands on below.

Their courtship started as a long-distance romance. One weekend while Brittany was visiting Travis, he aired his frustration about the distance separating them and, despite how much he cared for Brittany said, “this probably isn’t going to work out.” Brittany, ever the optimist said, “You’re right, the odds are against us and it probably won’t work out, but just for this weekend, let’s pretend that maybe it will.”

Well, guess what? I did work out. That moment became the song, “Maybe It Will” that Travis wrote for his future bride. The couple’s special song made an appearance a few times, first on the beanbag game for the guests at cocktail hour and later at dinner where we stamped muslin bags that carried a thumb drive with a digital book of the couple’s favorite recipes and a collection of Travis’s songs.

Early in their relationship, they created a love lock together. This special story symbolizing their forever bond was interpreted in the reception’s escort and place cards. An installation of vintage locks instructed guests to their tables and, upon arriving, they were met with a vintage key tied around their napkins at their place settings.

This laid back couple wasn’t interested in the standard wedding traditions. They preferred a casual, down-home feel with a touch of glam and elegance. San Ysidro Ranch was an instant favorite for its homey, rustic atmosphere, and top-notch service. We chose a color palette of warm neutrals with pops of deep and moody oxblood and rich purple tones.

Travis’s dream was to be married in the round with guests sitting on hay bales. He assembled a group of his talented musician friends to form a bluegrass band to play throughout the evening of celebration. As a nod to Brittany’s family’s dairy farming roots, we added a life size cow as the backdrop for the photo booth and displayed the wedding’s hashtag close by.

To balance this ultra rustic setting, we glammed up the dinner space with beautiful antique silver flatware, vintage glassware and sophisticated floral arrangements. To add a personal touch, Brittany’s talented sister hand calligraphed some of the event day signage and the beautiful name tags that we added to the wedding party’s bouquets and boutonnieres.

It was a beautiful, intimate evening of celebration for everyone!
