We had the pleasure of designing and planning this moody, glamorous Paramour Estate wedding for Marissa and Yale and we’re thrilled to report it was featured recently on Brides!
Having met 3 years prior, their love of dogs, tacos and travel instantly connected them. From their first adventure together, they were hooked. Yale popped the question in August 2015 at their Echo Park home before heading out for a celebratory dinner at Petite Trois and an ‘80s dance party for two later at Hotel Bel Air.
The couple instantly fell in love with the history and eclectic vibe of the Paramour Estate, a Mediterranean revival home built in 1923. They wished to honor the home’s history and build on its unconventional glamour for their sophisticated black tie affair. With a moody palette of black, deep plum, blush, gold and ochre, we added art deco elements in the invitations and paper goods as well as in the mismatched vintage china place settings. Design details included art-deco style paper goods, decadent velvet linens romantic florals and romantic candle light.
Marissa stunned in an Oscar de la Renta gown and Tom Ford heels while Yale looked dapper in a crisp black tux. The couple exchanged vows under a gorgeous floral chuppah in front of the dramatic arched window of the home’s grand and moody ballroom. Afterwards, guests enjoyed cocktails in the lawn surrounding the pool while a jazz trio played and champagne coupes clinked. Dramatic views of the downtown skyline only enhanced the experience.
The 218 guests dined al fresco under a canopy of stars and twinkle lights. A family style dinner at long feasting tables kept the party feeling intimate and approachable. The evening was topped off by an epic dance party and a basset hound figurine-adorned carrot cake to honor their favorite pup. It was an evening to remember!
